The diagnosis of Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorders have become commonplace in today's school children. But, how often are these conditions misdiagnosed? How many of these children, who appear inattentive and who struggle to learn, suffer from undiagnosed and untreated visual problems?
The program was designed to educate parents, teachers, school nurses and those health care providers who are on the front line of identifying such disorders. Sponsored by Bausch & Lomb, the preeminent global technology-based healthcare company for the eye, this interactive online seminar originally aired live and features leading experts in the field of vision and learning…especially as it relates to children and the impact of vision on their future success. The eventcast program incorporates streaming video, text and graphic slides and two-way messaging and polling during the live event.
The 75-minute seminar explores the state of knowledge concerning the vision-learning link and provides valuable tips for people interested in or affected by this important issue. Participants in the live event were able to ask questions and provide their perspectives about how the vision-learning connection affects their lives. The on-demand archive features a transcript of the Q&A messages and the presenters responses to audience questions.
Over 700 people registered for the event. Many thanks go to Melissa May for her dedication to bring this to a reality. The benefit of this program will be long term. We need to continue to promote the availability of the program. Let other parents, teachers, psychologists, optometrists, tutors and physicians know about the Digevent site.
Please send e-mails and cards of thanks to Melissa May, Drs. Getz, Hillier, Ryan, Hohendorf, May, Fortenbacher, Miller, Bescoby, Ms. Marjie Thompson , Joyce Inyoue and B& L for funding this.

The next day, January 31, 2002, at noon the local St. Louis NBC affiliate station aired the interview Dr. Miller did in November on Vision Therapy.
